Jose Perez, 15, of Hanover Park, is charged as an adult with one count of attempted first-degree murder and one count of aggravated battery with a firearm, according to Streamwood police. Judge Hyman Riebman set bond at $1 million during a Monday afternoon hearing, according to Cook County State's Attorney's office spokeswoman Tandra Simonton. He will appear for a preliminary hearing in Rolling Meadows on Nov. 25. The shooting happened about 8 p.m. Saturday in the 3000 block of Club Tree Drive, a release from police said. Upon arrival, officers found a 15-year-old boy shot once in the face and once in the buttocks. He was taken to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates, where he was listed in "stable" condition Monday morning. According to the victim and witnesses, two teenagers wearing masks came up to the boy as he sat on a swing talking to friends. At least one of the offenders shot him twice without provocation, the release said. Perez was found a short distance away near an apartment complex and was still in possession of the .32 caliber weapon used in the attack, according to police. The second offender remains in police custody Monday afternoon, but no charges had been filed as of 1:30 p.m., according to the release. The attack appears to be gang-related, although the victim had no gang affiliations, according to police. Streamwood police are investigating.
